En Estados Unidos generó mucha expectativa ya que fue el primer eclipse solar que se pudo ver allí después de 99 años. Comenzó en el estado de Oregon a las 05:16 p.m. (hora local) y terminó a las 06:48 p.m. en Carolina del Sur.
